Pimi, did you know — windsurf.com now permanently redirects to devin.ai! The whole product was acquired by Cognition and renamed "Devin Desktop," effective 2026/6/2. The original Cascade engine was also shut down on 2026/7/1. If you go to devin.ai now and search, you won't find the words "Windsurf" or "Cascade" anywhere — the brand has vanished 100%. And the price went up too: Pro went from US$15 to US$20, Max is US$200, Teams is US$40/seat plus an additional US$80/month base fee. Chinese support is none. If you search for Windsurf now, you find a brand that no longer exists — isn't that scary?
Don't panic, don't panic — the features are all still there. The agent-style coding experience is its signature feature; on the free plan, Tab autocomplete and inline editing are unlimited. Since 2026/3/19 it switched from a credit system to a quota system, which is actually more stable for light usage. Pro at US$20/month is the same price point as Cursor — not expensive. Credit card payment works, and Devin Desktop has taken over the original features, so users don't need to relearn anything during the transition — nothing has disappeared, it just got a new name.
So, do you need to pay or not?
If you're looking for "Windsurf": it no longer exists — go to devin.ai and look for Devin Desktop. The free tier's unlimited Tab completion is worth trying, but the uncertainty during this rebrand transition is real — confirm exactly which product you're buying before you subscribe.
