Adobe Firefly sells itself on one thing above all: images and video you can use commercially without worrying about a copyright claim landing on your desk later. That’s a real selling point for anyone building marketing assets for a client. But before you pick a plan, there are two things on the pricing page worth slowing down for — a limited-time discount with a deadline that has already passed, and free tier wording that got noticeably vaguer. This review checked Adobe’s live site against its own claims and breaks down exactly what each plan buys you in credits (Firefly’s internal currency for paying per generation).

Here’s AMPM’s angle: we don’t just repeat what the pricing page says, we check whether it still says it. On Firefly, it doesn’t, quite.

A discount deadline that’s already passed

Adobe’s two top-tier plans — Pro Plus at US$49.99/month and Premium at US$199.99/month — both carried a first-year discount of 30% off: US$34.97/month for Pro Plus and US$139.91/month for Premium. That offer had a cutoff date of 2026-08-26. We checked the page on 2026-10-05, which is more than five weeks after that deadline. If you’re looking at Firefly today expecting that discounted first-year rate, it’s not there anymore — you’re paying the full US$49.99 or US$199.99 from month one.

The free tier got vaguer, not better

Adobe’s FAQ used to describe the free tier in terms people could plan around: a fixed number of credits per month. The current wording on the official FAQ has shifted to “free daily generations” — a daily allowance instead of a monthly one — but without stating the actual daily number. That’s a meaningful change in how the free tier is communicated, even though we can’t tell you whether the real allowance got bigger, smaller, or stayed the same, because Adobe simply isn’t publishing the figure anymore.

What we could verify directly on the free tier: Firefly’s own Image Model 4 is unlimited, no credits needed. The partner video and image models — Google’s Veo 3.1 Fast, Kling 3.0 (720p), and Ray3.14 SDR (720p) — are all capped on a daily basis, with no published number for how many generations that cap allows.

What your credits actually buy

Credits aren’t spent evenly. Standard generation through Firefly’s own Image Model 4 is unlimited on every paid plan — the credits are really there to pay for access to partner models like Google’s Gemini 3 (branded “Nano Banana Pro” inside Firefly), OpenAI’s ChatGPT Image, Black Forest Labs’ FLUX.2, Veo, Kling, Runway, and Luma’s Ray3.14.

On the Standard plan (US$9.99/month, 2,000 credits), that 2,000-credit pool converts to roughly 50 Nano Banana Pro images at 2K resolution, 25 at 4K, 25 ChatGPT Image 2 (High) images, 100 FLUX.2 [pro] images, 50 four-second Veo 3.1 Fast clips, or 33 three-second Kling 3.0 clips at 720p — on top of unlimited Firefly Image Model 4 generations.

Jump to Premium (US$199.99/month, 50,000 credits) and the same credit pool stretches to roughly 1,250 Nano Banana Pro images at 2K, 625 at 4K, 625 ChatGPT Image 2 images, and 2,500 FLUX.2 images — plus Premium throws in actually unlimited generation (not just a bigger number) for Veo 3.1 Fast, Kling 3.0, and every 4K image model, along with unlimited Nano Banana Pro at 1K, 2K, and 4K.

🔍 AMPM exclusive check

Two gaps between what Adobe implies and what’s actually live right now. First: the Pro Plus and Premium first-year discounts (30% off, cutting the monthly rate to US$34.97 and US$139.91) are tied to a cutoff of 2026-08-26 — a date that, checked on 2026-10-05, is already in the past. Anyone citing those discounted rates today is quoting an expired offer, not the current price. Second: Adobe’s own FAQ changed its free tier description from a fixed monthly credit figure to “free daily generations,” dropping the actual number entirely. We tracked this page repeatedly — most recently a run of checks from 2026-07-25 through 2026-10-04 that confirmed pricing and quotas held steady day to day — and the wording shift stands out as the one actual change in that stretch: less specific, not more generous. Beyond those two points, every credit allowance and plan price in this piece matches Adobe’s live plans page as of 2026-10-04 — nothing else differed from the official listing.

I live by one rule: don’t pay for what the free version already covers. And on Firefly, the free version covers more than people assume — unlimited generations on Firefly’s own Image Model 4, no credit meter running, no monthly cap to watch. If what you need is straightforward AI images with commercial-use clearance, you might genuinely not need to pay Adobe anything.

Where free falls short is video and the partner models. Veo 3.1 Fast, Kling 3.0, and Ray3.14 are all capped daily on the free tier, and Adobe won’t tell you the actual number — you just hit a wall and get told to come back tomorrow or pay up. That’s the moment to look at Standard, US$9.99/month for 2,000 credits. That buys you, for example, 50 Veo 3.1 Fast clips or 33 Kling 3.0 clips a month, plus a slice of Nano Banana Pro and FLUX.2 image generations, on top of the still-unlimited Firefly Image Model 4. For ten bucks, that’s a reasonable trade if you’re making a handful of video clips a month and don’t want to babysit a daily cap. What I wouldn’t do is jump straight to Pro Plus (US$49.99/month) or Premium (US$199.99/month) expecting the old 30% first-year discount — that deadline passed on 2026-08-26, so you’d be paying full price, and that’s a lot of money for credits most casual users won’t burn through.

🌙 PIMI, the performance-minded cat

My question is always: does the tool keep up when the work gets heavier, and does the pricing scale sensibly with that. Firefly’s answer is yes, if you’re willing to pay for it. The credit system is actually well-designed for production work — Firefly Image Model 4 stays unlimited at every tier, so your bread-and-butter generations never get metered, and credits only get spent when you reach for a named partner model like Gemini 3 (Nano Banana Pro), ChatGPT Image 2, or Runway Gen-4.5.

The real performance ceiling shows up at Premium. For US$199.99/month and 50,000 credits, Veo 3.1 Fast and Kling 3.0 become genuinely unlimited, not just a bigger quota — same for every 4K image model and Nano Banana Pro at all three resolutions (1K, 2K, 4K). That’s the plan built for someone pushing out video and high-resolution image batches daily without doing credit math. Pro (US$19.99/month, 4,000 credits) is the practical middle step — it adds Photoshop access plus Nano Banana, Flux 2 Pro, and Flux Kontext pro, which matters if your workflow needs post-generation editing, not just raw output.

The catch for anyone scaling up: Pro Plus and Premium’s first-year 30% discount already expired on 2026-08-26, so the jump from Pro to Pro Plus is a jump straight to full US$49.99/month, and Premium is full US$199.99/month. If your studio’s budgeting assumed that discounted entry price, re-check your numbers — it’s gone.

Verdict: who should use it, who should skip it

Skip the paid tiers entirely if you only need still images and can live with Adobe’s unlisted free daily cap on video models — Firefly Image Model 4 unlimited, for free, covers a lot of ground. Standard at US$9.99/month earns its keep the moment you want a predictable monthly allowance for a few dozen video clips or partner-model images instead of gambling on a daily cap. Pro at US$19.99/month makes sense once Photoshop integration and editing models like Flux Kontext pro become part of your actual workflow, not just nice extras. Premium at US$199.99/month is for teams doing daily video and 4K image production at volume — the unlimited tiers there are real, but you’re paying full price now that the 30% first-year discount from before 2026-08-26 is off the table. And if you were holding off specifically to catch that discount, there’s nothing left to wait for — it’s expired, so decide based on today’s listed prices, not last quarter’s promo.
