Bolt's Free Tier: 300K Tokens a Day, 1M a Month — How to Not Burn It in Three Days (2026)

Bolt.new builds whole web apps from a chat. Its free allowance is metered in tokens, not projects — which is why people hit a wall mid-build on day one.

Free tier, as published

Paid tiers: Pro at US$25/month removes the daily cap, starts at 10M tokens per month, drops Bolt branding, raises uploads to 100MB and requests to 1M, adds custom domains, and rolls unused tokens into the next month. Teams at US$30 per member/month adds centralised billing, access management, admin controls and private NPM registries. Yearly billing is advertised as saving up to 28%.

Three rules that shape how you should work

1. Two gates, not one. 300K a day, but only 1M a month — so you get roughly three and a half full-throttle days per month, then nothing.
2. Free tokens do not roll over. They reset on the first of each calendar month; roll-over is a paid feature.
3. What happens after you run out is not published. The page only says upgrading removes the daily limit. We won’t guess — check your own account screen.

Budgeting advice (ours, not the vendor’s)

• Spend day one on a complete spec. Structure, style and data fields in one go. Every round trip re-reads context and costs tokens.
• Let the AI do big changes; do small ones yourself. Colour tweaks and copy edits are cheaper by hand.
• Test at the end. Hosting and ~333K requests are included; build first, verify after.
• Don’t start something new late in the month. What’s left is usually only enough to finish.

One limitation worth repeating

Our earlier verification found Bolt’s settings expose only sign-in methods — there is no outbound AI API key; usage is browser-only. If your plan was to generate with Bolt and pipe it into your own pipeline, that changes the calculus.

Who should pay

• Curious about AI site building? Free is fine; 300K tokens produces a working prototype.
• Shipping something, with your own domain and no Bolt branding? Pro is the only route.
• A team? Teams buys billing and permissions, not capacity.
• Heavy iteration? Pro’s 10M is ten times free — but if you can burn 300K in a day, that is about ten days of work.
