Buzzabout pulls up conversations about a brand, product, or topic from Reddit, YouTube, X, and TikTok and turns them into a social-listening report. If you searched for buzzabout’s free tier hoping to run ongoing research at no cost, stop here: there isn’t one. What Buzzabout calls free is a one-day trial, and it’s built on a mechanic most pricing pages don’t use.

The official pricing page FAQ says it plainly: the trial gives you “enough balance for 500 mentions, to spend over a day.” Two words matter more than they look — “balance” and “day.” This isn’t a monthly allowance that resets. It’s a one-time spending limit, gone whether you use it or not, with no second free day ever offered again.

What you actually get for the trial

A “mention” is one instance of your search term showing up in a post, comment, or video across the platforms Buzzabout tracks — a tweet mentioning your brand counts as one, a YouTube comment counts as another. The trial balance covers 500 of those, total, inside a single day. There’s no monthly reset, because there’s no month: once the day ends or the balance hits zero, the trial is over.

That also means your 500 mentions don’t translate into a fixed number of “reports” or searches. How many research runs you get out of the trial depends entirely on how many mentions you tell Buzzabout to pull each time. Set a narrow search and you might run several small checks. Set a broad one and you could burn through the whole balance in a single pass.

The official page doesn’t say whether the trial requires a credit card, or whether anything you produce during that one day can be used commercially. AMPM could not find either answer published anywhere on the site.

The three paid tiers, by the mention

Once the trial day ends, Buzzabout’s business model switches to usage-based billing: instead of buying a flat feature set, you’re buying a balance that gets spent per mention, and the per-mention price drops as you move up tiers.

  • Starter — US$50 per seat (one user login) per month, billed monthly. That US$50 is itself a monthly balance, spent at US$0.02 per mention (cut from US$0.025 on 2026-08-22). It includes one listening agent (an automated search that keeps monitoring a topic), one project, and a hard cap of 250 mentions per research run. No API (a way for other software to pull your data automatically) and no CSV export. Paying annually brings the effective monthly cost to US$40, saving US$120 a year.
  • Pro — US$150 per seat per month, with a US$150 monthly balance spent at US$0.015 per mention. Three agents, three projects, a 1,000-mention cap per run, plus API access and CSV export. Annual billing drops the effective monthly price to US$100, saving US$600 a year.
  • Business — US$350 per seat per month, with a US$350 monthly balance at US$0.007 per mention. No limit on agents or projects. Annual billing brings it to US$250 a month effective, saving US$1,200 a year.
  • Enterprise — custom quote, built for research runs of 10,000-plus mentions, with SSO (single sign-on, letting a company’s existing login system control access) and a dedicated customer success manager.

Buzzabout’s own pricing page doesn’t publish an Enterprise number, and there’s no public promo code. The annual-vs-monthly savings above are the only discount mechanism the vendor lists.

The lifetime deal that isn’t official

A few third-party deal sites list Buzzabout “lifetime” plans priced between US$199 and US$499 — a single payment instead of a subscription. AMPM is not treating that as verified pricing. It doesn’t appear on buzzabout.ai/pricing, and a tool whose core cost structure is “pay per mention scraped” is an unusual candidate for a true lifetime deal, since someone still has to cover the ongoing scraping cost. Anyone considering it should ask the vendor directly whether the deal is official before paying.

🔍 AMPM exclusive check

The gap here isn’t in the headline numbers — it’s in what the vendor’s FAQ sentence leaves out. “Enough balance for 500 mentions, to spend over a day” reads like a simple free-trial line, but it hides two mechanics that change how useful the trial actually is.

AMPM feature poster: The trial balance exists only for a single day, evaporating completely by nightfall without recurri

Illustration: The trial balance exists only for a single day, evaporating completely by nightfall without recurring monthly resets.

First, the trial is balance-based, not count-based. Buzzabout doesn’t give you “500 free searches” — it gives you a spending limit equivalent to 500 mentions, and a single research run can consume any share of that depending on how it’s configured. Set a run with a high mention count and you could use up the entire day’s balance in one shot. The vendor’s own plan tables show research-run caps of 250, 1,000, and 10,000-plus mentions on paid tiers — so a trial user running something comparable to even the lowest paid cap (250) could burn half the balance in one query.

Second, we calculated what that trial balance is actually worth in dollars, since the vendor doesn’t state it. Using the Starter plan’s historical per-mention rate of US$0.025 (the rate in effect before the 2026-08-22 price cut to US$0.02), 500 mentions works out to about US$12.5 worth of usage, free, for one day. Buzzabout doesn’t publish this figure anywhere; it only becomes visible when you cross-reference the trial FAQ against the paid per-mention rate.

Beyond that, two open questions remain genuinely unanswered on the official site, not just unemphasized: whether the one-day trial requires a credit card up front, and whether unused monthly balance on paid plans rolls over to the next month. We checked the pricing page, the FAQ, and the plan comparison table directly on 2026-10-05 and found no mention of either. If you’re signing up to test Buzzabout, go in assuming the answer to both is “no” until the vendor says otherwise.

☀️ AMO, the budget-minded cat

AMO, the budget-minded cat

AMO only wants to know one thing: is Buzzabout’s free option enough to actually use, and if not, is paying worth it? The honest answer is that the free trial is not built for sustained use — it’s built for a single, narrow test. 500 mentions spent inside one calendar day isn’t a research tool, it’s a demo. There’s no way to stretch it across a week of casual monitoring, and no second trial day ever arrives.

So the real question for a tight-budget user isn’t “is the free tier enough” — there effectively isn’t a free tier, just a sample. The question is which paid tier is worth the jump. Starter, at US$50 a month (US$40 a month if paid annually), buys a US$50 monthly balance at US$0.02 per mention, one listening agent, one project, and runs capped at 250 mentions each. Do the mental math on your own research volume: at US$0.02 per mention, a US$50 balance covers 2,500 mentions a month in theory, but the 250-mention cap per run means you’d need at least ten separate runs to use it all. For a solo user or a very small team doing occasional brand checks, that’s a real constraint, not a footnote.

AMO’s take: Buzzabout is worth paying for only if social listening is a recurring, not occasional, need — and only once you’ve confirmed your typical research run fits inside the 250-mention Starter cap. If it doesn’t, Pro’s 1,000-mention cap and lower US$0.015 per-mention rate is the realistic entry point, at US$150 a month or US$100 a month annually. There’s no cheap way to “try before you buy” beyond the single trial day, so budget-conscious users should treat that one day as their only real evaluation window and plan a specific, representative search to run during it.

Verdict: who should use it, who should skip it

Use Buzzabout if you need multi-platform social listening — Reddit, YouTube, X, and TikTok in one place — on a recurring basis, and your budget can absorb a seat-based monthly fee rather than a flat one-time cost. Marketing teams and agencies tracking ongoing brand mentions are the clearest fit, especially at Pro or Business tier where the per-mention rate drops and the mention caps per run stop being a constraint.

Skip it if you were hoping for a genuinely free ongoing tool, or if your research needs are occasional rather than continuous. A one-day, 500-mention trial with no credit-card policy disclosed and no monthly reset isn’t a fallback plan — it’s a single shot. If you can’t commit to at least the Starter tier’s monthly cost, or if you only need to check brand mentions a few times a year, the trial alone won’t carry you, and nothing on the official pricing page suggests that will change.
