Claude Academy Is Free: 289 Resources, Free Certificates — and One Thing That Costs Money, 2026

文章最後更新:2026-08-22

In August 2026 Anthropic consolidated its scattered learning material into a new site, Claude Academy (academy.claude.com). We checked the official site directly on 2026-08-22: anthropic.com/learn now redirects to academy.claude.com, while the old anthropic.skilljar.com is still live (HTTP 200). Both exist, but they play by different rules.

Three questions matter: does it cost anything, what languages are covered, and do the certificates mean anything.

1. It’s free — no paid plan, no work account

The official FAQ is unusually direct about this:

Claude Academy is free. You can browse the entire catalog without signing in at all. Signing in — with a free Claude account — is what saves your progress and lets you earn certificates of completion (badges). You don’t need a paid plan and you don’t need a work account.

Sign-in is a one-time OAuth authorization through claude.ai; Academy doesn’t maintain a separate account. One caveat from the FAQ: if you hold several Claude accounts or organizations, Academy binds your learning to whichever one was active when you authorized, and learning records cannot be moved between accounts. If you want your progress attributed to your employer, sign in to claude.ai through company SSO first, then authorize.

2. How much material? The official page says 289 resources

Reading the official /all page directly, it states 289 resources, split into Courses, Tutorials and Use cases, filterable by product. The first screen alone lists 22 courses, with a “Load more” button below — so that isn’t the full set.

Representative courses and the workload each one advertises:

(Figures taken item by item from the official course cards, read 2026-08-22. Anthropic notes the durations are estimates — completion is judged on passing quizzes, not on time spent.)

The site splits in two: product tracks (Claude.ai, Claude Cowork, Claude Code, Claude Tag, Claude Platform) and AI Fluency, the foundational track built on the 4D framework — Delegation, Description, Discernment, Diligence. Beyond the general version, AI Fluency has dedicated editions for builders, educators, pK-12 teachers, nonprofits and small businesses.

3. Languages: seven, with English fallback

The site’s front-end locale module lists es, fr, ja, ko, zh-CN and zh-TW alongside native English — seven in total. The same code contains a fallback rule: when a translated version of an item is missing, the English original is shown instead.

That matches third-party hands-on reporting: a Taiwanese outlet testing the site on 2026-08-21 wrote that content “now supports Traditional Chinese (a small part not yet)” — which is exactly what the fallback looks like in practice.

Not verified: the actual translation coverage per language. Localized pages are rendered client-side, so we could not read translated body text from outside. We do not estimate a number.

4. Certificates: Academy badges are free, the certification exam is not

This is the distinction worth remembering. The official FAQ separates two things that sound alike:

(A) Academy completion badges — free

  • Earned by passing the quizzes (each lesson quiz plus the final assessment), not by finishing the lessons. The FAQ explicitly corrects this misconception.
  • Retakes are unlimited, with no lockout timer.
  • Badges do not expire, and no re-certification is required when new Claude versions ship. If a course updates mid-way, quizzes already passed stay passed.
  • Each badge carries a public verification link you can share on LinkedIn; anyone can confirm it is genuine.

(B) Claude certification exams — paid, proctored, separate

  • Delivered by Pearson, credential issued through Credly, not by Academy.
  • The FAQ states this program is only available to Anthropic partners, via anthropic-partners.skilljar.com.

So the thing an ordinary learner can get for free is a certificate of completion, not a vendor certification. Word your résumé accordingly.

5. Skilljar progress does not migrate automatically

If you studied on anthropic.skilljar.com:

  • Progress does not carry over automatically. An import prompt appears only when your Claude account email exactly matches the Skilljar email — and the import is rolling out gradually, so it may not have reached you.
  • Mismatched emails cannot be merged. Your options are creating a free Claude account on the old email, or re-earning the certificates on the account you actually use.
  • Certificates already earned on Skilljar are untouched — not moved, not revoked.
  • Partner-program domain allowlisting did not carry over; Anthropic tells partners to keep using Skilljar for now.

6. A time-efficient path

Based on the advertised durations:

  • New to AI: AI Fluency: Framework & Foundations (4 hr). It’s the foundation the rest of the site assumes.
  • Getting productive with Claude Code: Claude Code 101 (1 hr) → Claude Code in Action (1 hr). For usage limits, see our Claude Code weekly limit breakdown.
  • Building on the API: Claude Platform 101 (1.5 hr) → MCP intro (1 hr) → MCP advanced (1.5 hr). Already on AWS or GCP? Bedrock (8 hr) and Vertex AI (8.5 hr) are the two heaviest courses on the site.
  • Just want the badge: go straight to the quizzes — the badge is issued the moment you pass the final required one.

If you’d rather not sign in, the catalog is open to browse anyway. For how free allowances reset across AI tools generally, see our AI free-quota reset rules.

How Amo and Pimi look

AMO Amo Finding faults
PIMI Pimi Advantages
Six tiers is a bit much, sure, but don't forget its long-form handling and writing quality are widely recognized strengths, Chinese support is full, and you can pay directly with a credit card. Pro billed annually works out to about US$17/month — the writing quality really is better than competitors at the same price point. The paid plan includes the Claude Code engineering tool, which is extra value for developers — Amo, you were so busy complaining the free version doesn't have it that you forgot the paid version actually gives you a lot. The Team plan works for 2–150 people, and annual billing brings Standard down to US$20/seat, which isn't a high bar. Plus in May 2026 they permanently doubled the paid-plan quota — the free tier doesn't get it, but paid users genuinely benefit.
So, do you need to pay or not?

For long-form writing and content creation: Pro at US$20/month is worth it. Free-tier users should be prepared — once the rolling quota runs out, you have to wait, and there's no Claude Code. For team use, annual billing is recommended to save 20%.
