Copy.ai used to hand out a free plan. That plan is gone from the pricing page. What is left is a single self-serve option at US$29 per month and an enterprise tier you have to ask about. This review looks at whether the one plan you can actually buy is worth the money, what it does well, and who should walk away.

What Copy.ai sells now, and what vanished

The old pitch was simple: write marketing copy with AI, start free. The current pricing page tells a different story. There are two tabs. The self-serve tab has exactly one plan, Chat, at US$29 per month, billed monthly. The enterprise tab has no public price at all, just a button to request a custom demo.

The free plan is not hidden somewhere else on the page. It is not in a comparison table. It is not behind a toggle. The page simply does not offer one. The old “2,000 words per month free” tier that people remember is no longer on the live site. If you search for it, you will find old blog posts and forum threads describing it. Those descriptions are out of date.

This matters because a lot of people arrive at Copy.ai expecting to test it before paying. They cannot. There is no free trial listed on the pricing page either. The only way to see the product is to pay US$29 or talk to sales.

The Chat plan itself is not stingy once you are inside. It includes 5 seats, which means 5 people on your team can log in under one subscription. It includes unlimited words in chat. It includes unlimited chat projects. And it lets you pick between OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini models, so you are not locked into one vendor’s output style.

What it does not include is workflow credits. Higher-tier plans that Copy.ai has offered in the past bundled monthly workflow allowances. The Chat plan does not mention them. If your use case is running automated multi-step workflows rather than chatting with a model, this plan may not cover it.

The enterprise tier is where API access, batch workflows, 20+ technical integrations, guided onboarding, a dedicated customer team, and enterprise-grade security live. No price is published. You have to ask.

Prices vary by country; we checked from Taiwan.

The three things that actually annoy

First, the missing free tier is not just a marketing inconvenience. It changes how you evaluate the tool. With most AI writing products, you can sign up, run a few real tasks, and decide. Here you cannot. You either pay US$29 upfront or you sit through a sales call for the enterprise tier. For a solo marketer or a small team testing three or four tools, that is a real friction point.

Second, the pricing page is thin. One self-serve plan, one enterprise tab, and no comparison grid. If you want to know what you give up by not going enterprise, you have to infer it from the feature list. The page does not spell out the difference in a table. It also does not show a yearly price. It says annual billing saves 20%, but the annual total is not listed. You cannot see the actual yearly number without going further into checkout.

Third, the Chat plan’s name undersells what it is and oversells what it replaces. It is a chat interface with model choice and unlimited words. That is genuinely useful. But if you came to Copy.ai for the older “generate 50 product descriptions in one click” workflow, the Chat plan is not that. The workflow features sit behind the enterprise wall. The plan name suggests a casual chat tool; the price suggests a team subscription. The mismatch is confusing.

What it genuinely does well

Unlimited words in chat is a real benefit. Many competitors meter output by credits, tokens, or words per month. A credit is a unit you spend per generation; a token is a chunk of text the model processes. Copy.ai’s Chat plan does not meter either one inside the chat interface. You can write as much as you want, as long as you are typing into the chat.

Five seats for US$29 per month is also competitive for small teams. That works out to a low per-person cost if you actually have five people using it. A solo user pays the same US$29 and gets the same five seats, which is less efficient but not unreasonable for unlimited chat access.

Model choice is the quiet strength. Being able to switch between OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini in one subscription means you can match the model to the task. Some models handle long-form marketing copy better. Some handle structured output better. You do not have to buy three subscriptions to compare.

The enterprise feature list is solid on paper: API access, batch workflows, 20+ integrations, dedicated support, enterprise security. For a large company that needs automation and compliance, that is the right shape of offering. The problem is you cannot see the price without a conversation.

🔍 AMPM exclusive check

The gap here is the free tier itself. Copy.ai’s own site no longer mentions a free plan, but a large amount of third-party content still describes one. The old “2,000 words per month free” offer was real at some point. It is not on the current pricing page. We verified this by reading the live page directly on 2026-08-09 and re-checking through 2026-11-02. Every automated check between 2026-09-12 and 2026-11-01 confirmed the same numbers with no changes.

The vendor page also does not spell out the annual price. It says annual billing saves 20%, but the actual yearly total is not shown. We are not going to calculate it for you, because the page does not state it. If you want the annual number, you have to go to checkout.

One more gap: the Chat plan’s feature list does not mention workflow credits, but older Copy.ai plans did include them. The page does not say whether workflows are available on Chat or only on Enterprise. Based on the feature lists, workflows appear to be enterprise-only. That is an inference from the page, not a statement the page makes.

Nothing else differed from the official page. Every number above matches what the pricing page shows, checked 2026-11-02.

☀️ AMO, the budget-minded cat

AMO, the budget-minded cat

Here is the budget question: is US$29 per month worth it when there is no free tier to test first?

If you are a solo writer, US$29 buys you unlimited chat words and access to three model families. That is not a bad deal on paper. But you are paying for 5 seats and only using 1. You are also paying upfront with no trial. If Copy.ai is not the right fit, you have spent US$29 to find out.

If you are a team of 3 to 5 people, the math changes. US$29 divided across 5 seats is a low per-person cost for unlimited chat. That is where the plan makes sense. The budget-minded move is to only subscribe if you can fill at least 3 of those seats.

The bigger budget problem is the missing middle. There is no cheap entry plan, no pay-as-you-go option, no free tier. Your choices are US$29 per month or “contact sales.” For a freelancer or a small business testing AI writing tools, that is a hard jump. Competitors with free tiers let you test before you commit. Copy.ai does not.

The annual discount is mentioned but not priced. You cannot budget for it without going to checkout. That is annoying if you are comparing tools on total cost.

Bottom line for AMO: if you have a team that will use all 5 seats, the Chat plan is reasonable value. If you are solo, you are overpaying for seats you will not use, and you have no free way to test first.

🌙 PIMI, the performance-minded cat

PIMI, the performance-minded cat

Does the Chat plan actually do the job well?

The model choice is the strongest performance feature. OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini in one subscription means you can pick the best model for each task. For long-form marketing copy, that flexibility matters. You are not stuck with one model’s quirks.

Unlimited words in chat means you will not hit a wall mid-project. No credit counting, no token budgeting inside the chat. That is a real workflow benefit. You can iterate as much as you need.

Five seats means your team can collaborate without buying separate subscriptions. For a small marketing team, that is efficient.

The performance gap is workflows. The Chat plan does not list workflow credits. If your job is running automated multi-step processes, not just chatting, this plan may not cover it. The enterprise tier has batch workflows and API access, but no public price. If you need automation, you are in sales-call territory.

The other performance question is output quality. The data does not tell us how good the writing is. It tells us which models are available. Model choice is a proxy for quality, not a guarantee. You still have to prompt well.

Bottom line for PIMI: for chat-based writing with model flexibility, the plan performs. For automated workflows, it does not, and the upgrade path is opaque.

Verdict: who should use it, who should skip it

Use it if you have a small team of 3 to 5 people who will all use the seats, you want unlimited chat words, and you value switching between OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini in one subscription. The US$29 per month is reasonable when spread across a team.

Skip it if you are a solo user who wants to test before paying. There is no free tier, no trial listed, and you would be paying for 4 seats you do not use. Skip it if you need automated workflows, because those appear to be enterprise-only with no public price. Skip it if you need to see the annual price before committing, because the page does not show it.

The honest summary: Copy.ai removed its free entry point and now sells one self-serve plan. That plan is solid for small teams doing chat-based writing. It is a poor fit for solo testers and anyone who needs workflow automation without a sales call.
