Most AI-tool referral programs pay a percentage. Descript is one of the exceptions: a flat US$25 for every new subscriber you bring in. We read the official affiliate page today (2026-09-06). Percentage (most competitors)

• Upside: the more expensive the plan, the more you earn; recurring shares are worth more over time.
• Downside: unpredictable, and usually attached to clawbacks, verification periods and duration caps.

A simple rule: if your readers are individual creators buying entry or mid tiers, a flat US$25 often beats a percentage; if your readers are teams or enterprise buyers, percentage models have a far higher ceiling.

Several programs we checked the same week carry a US$100 payout floor and a 60-day verification hold — you accumulate first, then wait two months. Descript’s page states no minimum sales requirement and automatic monthly PayPal payouts.

For anyone starting out with low volume, getting paid for a single sale matters more than the headline rate.
