Fathom Pricing 2026: Is the Free Plan Really Unlimited Recording? All Four Plans, Verified
Article last updated:2026-09-07
Almost every AI notetaker caps its free tier by minutes — Otter gives 300, Fireflies gives 400. Fathom is one of the few that writes “unlimited” on the pricing page itself.
Does that hold up? We read the official pricing page on 2026-09-07 and copied out all four plans and the real edges of the free tier.
1. What the plans actually cost
The page offers a monthly/annual toggle (annual is marked as saving 25%+) and splits into individuals and teams:
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per month) | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free (individual) | US$0 | US$0 | 1 |
| Premium (individual) | US$20 | US$16 | per user |
| Team | US$19 | US$15 | per user, 2 minimum |
| Business | US$34 | US$25 | per user, 2 minimum |
| Enterprise | Contact sales | Contact sales | — |
Every paid plan carries a 90 day guarantee.
One easy misread: Team (US$19) is cheaper than Premium (US$20) — but Team requires two seats, so a solo user pays US$38/month minimum (US$30 annual). For one person, Premium is the cheaper path.
2. What the free plan includes
Listed under Free:
- Unlimited recordings + transcriptions
- Choice of bot-free or bot capture (bot-free is marked as a Mac beta)
- Instant AI call summaries
- Clips, playlists and search across calls
So the “how long, how many” dimension genuinely has no gate — a different business model from the minute-metered competitors.
3. What free actually caps
Per the feature comparison table, the line is drawn at how much AI works on your recordings, not how much you record:
- Advanced summaries — 15+ expert meeting templates including BANT and Sandler frameworks: not on free.
- AI action items: marked Limited use on free.
- Ask Fathom (AI within a single call): marked Limited use.
- Account-wide Ask Fathom (AI across all calls): Limited use on free; paid plans get unlimited lookback for “my calls”, with team-call lookback depending on tier.
- AI follow-up emails, coaching metrics, custom summaries: paid tiers.
- The entire team workspace layer (team recordings view, team folders, comments and mentions, Customer view, Deal view): Team and above.
- CRM field sync, Deal View, AI scorecards: Business and above.
Plainly: Fathom gives away the record and withholds the digestion. If you need to find what someone said three weeks ago, free is likely enough. If you need the meeting to produce action items and follow-ups on its own, that is the paid line.
4. Three ways you might not pay at all
The pricing page lists three routes worth checking before you enter a card:
- Qualified Portfolio Program: startups affiliated with select VCs and accelerators can get up to 2 years free of Fathom Team.
- 10 free seats for nonprofits, subject to an eligibility application.
- Switching from Gong or similar: Fathom offers Business free through your existing contract, plus data migration.
Eligibility details sit with Fathom, but where they apply the savings dwarf any plan difference.
5. How to choose against the alternatives
- Transcripts and search on a zero budget: unlimited recording is rare in this category. By comparison, Fireflies caps free at 400 minutes with storage limits and Otter free is 300 minutes.
- Solo user who wants AI summaries: Premium at US$16/month annual.
- Two or more people: Team at US$15/user/month annual — cheaper than Premium and adds collaboration.
- CRM sync required: go straight to Business.

Feature boundaries come from the official comparison table; the page does not publish a numeric quota behind “Limited use”, so treat that as stated rather than measured.
