HeyGen Raises Creator Commission to 50% Until Oct 31 — But It Still Pays for Only Three Months and Clears After 60 Days
Article last updated:2026-09-06
Reading HeyGen’s official Social Creator program page today (2026-09-06), the first thing on it is a limited-time banner: commission raised from 35% to 50%, running August 1 through October 31 (the banner carries no year; we read it as the currently running window at the time of this check).
The raise is real. But if 50% is all you take away, you will miss the four numbers that matter more.
1. The full terms
| Item | What the official page says |
|---|---|
| Base commission | 35%, recurring |
| Limited-time rate | 50%, Aug 1 – Oct 31 |
| Payout duration | 3 months only per subscription |
| Tracking window | Purchase must happen within 30 days of the click |
| Verification | Commissions clear a 60-day period for refunds, chargebacks and subscription validation |
| Minimum payout | US$100 |
| Payment | PayPal, paid within the first 3 days of each month |
| Eligibility | 5,000+ followers on at least one platform |
| Allowed formats | Original video content on social and course platforms |
| Explicitly banned | SEO/blog-only promotion, paid search, self-referrals |
2. “Recurring 35%” does not mean what it usually means
Recurring normally implies you earn every month the customer keeps paying. HeyGen’s wording is recurring for 3 months — three billing cycles, then it stops.
Concretely: someone subscribes through your link, you earn in months 1, 2 and 3, and nothing from month 4 onward. This short-recurring model sits between a one-time bounty and a lifetime share, and its real value depends on the plan price, not on the word “recurring”.
3. The 60-day verification is the line people skip
The page is explicit: commissions clear a 60-day period to account for refunds, chargebacks and subscription validation. Combine that with monthly payouts in the first three days and a US$100 floor, and the cash flow looks like this:
- Someone pays in September → the commission enters verification.
- It clears around early November.
- If your balance has reached US$100 → it lands in PayPal by early December.
- If not → it waits for the next one.
In other words, two to three months between the customer’s charge and your payout is normal. HeyGen is not unusually strict here; most video tools work this way. It is simply rarely mentioned in write-ups.
4. This is a creator program, not a publisher program
HeyGen’s rules exclude some people by design:
- 5,000 followers required on at least one platform.
- Original video only — the page states no SEO/blog-only promotion.
- No paid search — you cannot buy ads to drive the link.
- No self-referrals — subscribing through your own link does not count.
So if your output is a text site or a newsletter, this program does not fit on the rules themselves: the format of your promotion is not recognised, regardless of audience quality.
5. How to read the promotional rate
50% is roughly 43% more income than 35%, but it changes none of the structural limits: three months, 30-day tracking, 60-day verification, US$100 floor. It only affects deals closed inside the window — and whether the second and third cycles of a deal closed before Oct 31 still pay 50% is not stated on the page. Unverified.
6. Still unverified
- The year of the promotional window: not printed on the banner. Unverified.
- Commission rate for renewal cycles falling outside the window. Unverified.
- Actual dollar amounts per plan: depend on HeyGen’s current list price. Unverified.
