Recraft is a design-oriented AI image generator — it makes and edits images, and plugs into outside models like Nano Banana, Flux, and GPT Image on top of its own. We checked Recraft’s pricing page directly, and the headline number on every paid plan is not what you’ll actually be charged unless you read the fine print. The free tier gives you three generations per day, per style, and that’s the real ceiling for anyone testing the tool before paying.
What the Free Tier Actually Lets You Do
Recraft’s free tier costs nothing, but it’s narrower than it first looks. You get three image generations per day for each style you pick, plus three image uploads per day, and a cap of two images per upload. That’s the daily reset — it refills the next day, not the next hour.
Beyond the generation count, three restrictions matter more:
- Personal use only. No commercial use is allowed on the free tier. If you’re making anything you intend to sell, license, or use in client work, free doesn’t cover you.
- Everything you generate is public. There’s no private mode on the free tier — every image you make is visible to others, with no toggle to change that.
- Recraft’s own models only. The free tier doesn’t give you access to the external models (Nano Banana, Flux, GPT Image, and others) that Recraft integrates. You also can’t run parallel generations — one job at a time.
For someone testing whether Recraft’s house style fits their work, three free images a day for a few days is enough to form an opinion. It’s not enough for a steady personal project, and it’s not usable at all for anything commercial.

Three Paid Tiers, One Annual Catch
Recraft runs three paid plans — Basic, Pro, and Teams — and all three are billed through a system of monthly “credits”: a budget of points that gets spent each time you generate or edit an image, with the exact cost per action varying by what you do and which model you use.
- Basic — US$10/month, but only as an annual-billing monthly average; the real charge is US$120 per year. You get 1,000 credits a month, access to the external models, commercial usage rights, and private generation (your images stop being public by default).
- Pro — US$16/month on the same annual-average basis, which is US$192 billed per year. You get 2,000 credits a month, plus video generation (Kling, Veo, Sora, Seedance, and others) and a priority queue for faster processing.
- Teams — US$18/month per seat, annual-average again, working out to US$211 per seat per year. Each seat gets 2,000 credits a month, with a shared workspace, centralized billing across the team, and SSO (single sign-on, meaning team members log in through your company’s existing identity system instead of a separate Recraft password).
Note what’s missing from that list: a standalone monthly billing price. Recraft’s pricing page defaults to the annual-billing view, and that’s the only rate we could confirm as of this check — we did not find a published month-to-month price for anyone unwilling to commit for a year.
Credits: The Math Recraft Doesn’t Publish
The credit system is where Recraft gets vague. Basic gives you 1,000 credits a month, but the pricing page and FAQ don’t spell out how many credits a single generation, edit, or video job actually costs — that detail lives on a separate “external models pricing” reference, and it varies by model and action. That means you can’t easily predict how far 1,000 or 2,000 credits will stretch until you start using the external models and watch your balance move. If you’re the kind of user who wants to know exactly what you’re getting before paying, that’s a real gap — budget the number but expect to recalibrate once you see actual usage.

🔍 AMPM exclusive check
The vendor page technically discloses everything above, but it buries the one detail that changes how the deal looks: the US$10, US$16, and US$18 figures shown are monthly averages calculated from an annual charge, not prices you can pay monthly. The pricing page opens on the annual-billing tab by default, so the small-looking numbers are the first thing you see — and the actual bill, US$120, US$192, or US$211 per seat, only shows up if you read past the headline. We checked for a separate month-to-month price and could not find one published anywhere on the site as of this verification. If a true monthly rate exists, it isn’t where the annual-average figures are displayed, and that’s worth knowing before you assume you’re committing to US$10 a month rather than US$120 a year.

Illustration: The displayed monthly average is just a calculation basis; you must pay the full annual fee upfront.
☀️ AMO, the budget-minded cat

AMO wants to know: is the free tier enough, and if not, is paying worth it? For a hobbyist just poking at Recraft’s house style, three generations a day per style is workable — you can cycle through a few styles and still get a reasonable number of tries without spending anything. But the moment you want to keep your work private, or use it for anything beyond personal play, free stops being an option: there’s no commercial license and no privacy toggle on it, full stop.
Stepping up to Basic costs US$120 a year (the only confirmed rate, since no monthly price was found), for 1,000 credits a month, commercial rights, private generation, and access to outside models like Flux and GPT Image. That’s the real question for AMO: is unlocking commercial use and privacy worth a US$120-a-year commitment with no month-to-month exit? If you only need Recraft occasionally, that’s a harder sell than a US$10 monthly charge would be, because you’re locked into the full year up front. The jump to Pro — US$192 a year for 2,000 credits plus video generation — only makes sense if you specifically need video output (Kling, Veo, Sora, Seedance); otherwise Basic’s 1,000 credits and commercial rights cover the same core need for less. AMO’s take: free is fine for sampling styles, but paying only clears the bar if you actually need commercial rights or privacy badly enough to commit annually, since Recraft gives no cheaper monthly on-ramp to test the paid tier first.
Verdict: who should use it, who should skip it
Recraft’s free tier is a legitimate way to sample its style and workflow, but it’s built for browsing, not producing — three generations a day per style, no commercial use, and no privacy make it unsuitable for real work. Basic at US$120/year is the entry point for anyone who needs commercial rights, private generations, or outside models like Flux and GPT Image, and it’s reasonable if you’ll use it steadily over a year. Pro at US$192/year only earns its premium over Basic if you need the video generation feature; otherwise you’re paying for a priority queue and double the credits you may not use. Teams, at US$211 per seat per year, is for groups that need shared billing and SSO — not a fit for solo users.
Skip Recraft’s paid plans if you need a flexible month-to-month commitment: as of this check, no standalone monthly price is published, only the annual-billing average. Skip it entirely if your use case is casual and personal — the free tier’s three-per-day cap, non-commercial restriction, and lack of privacy are fine for that, and paying buys you nothing you need.
