Most AI note tools sell you a blank page and a monthly bill. Saner.ai sells something narrower: a thinking assistant for researchers and founders, with a free tier that looks generous until you read the fine print on what counts as an “AI message.” The question isn’t whether Saner.ai works. It’s whether the free plan’s 30 monthly AI messages are enough to build a real workflow, or whether the jump to US$8 or US$16 a month is the only way to make the tool useful.

This review is based on verified pricing data from Saner.ai’s official site, checked repeatedly between October 20 and November 1, 2026. We did not test the tool hands-on. Every number below comes from that data.

The Free Tier’s Real Shape

Saner.ai’s free plan includes 30 AI messages per month, 100 notes, a 1 MB cap per PDF, 100 MB of storage, and 30 AI requests per month. That last pair — “AI messages” and “AI requests” — is where things get interesting. The data lists them as separate line items, both capped at 30 per month on the free tier. Whether they draw from the same pool or operate independently isn’t spelled out on the pricing page. That ambiguity matters if you’re trying to budget your usage.

For context: an AI message is a prompt you send to the assistant. An AI request is a call the tool makes to its underlying model — which can happen without you typing anything, depending on how features are wired. If both count against you separately, 30 of each sounds workable. If they overlap, the free tier runs dry faster than the number suggests.

The 100-note limit is the other hard stop. Researchers who clip sources, draft outlines, and keep meeting notes in one place will hit 100 notes quickly. The 1 MB PDF cap is tighter still — most academic papers and scanned documents exceed that. You can read them, but you can’t necessarily store them.

What US$8 and US$16 Actually Change

The Starter plan, at US$8 per month billed monthly, shifts the free tier’s monthly caps to daily ones: 30 AI messages per day, 30 AI requests per day. It also raises notes to 1,000, PDFs to 5 MB each, and storage to 5 GB. It adds “limited Reasoning mode” — Saner.ai’s term for letting the assistant work through multi-step problems rather than answering in one pass.

The Standard plan, at US$16 per month billed monthly, removes the message cap entirely: unlimited AI messages and unlimited notes. PDFs go to 10 MB each, storage to 100 GB, AI requests to 100 per day. Reasoning mode becomes “extended,” and you get founder-level support.

The jump from free to Starter is the one that changes behavior. Thirty messages per day is a real working rhythm. Thirty per month is a trial. The jump from Starter to Standard is about removing ceilings — unlimited messages, unlimited notes — and doubling the daily request budget from 30 to 100.

No annual pricing appears in the data. If Saner.ai offers a yearly discount, it isn’t listed on the page we checked. Prices vary by country; we checked from Taiwan.

🔍 AMPM exclusive check

The official pricing page lists “30 AI messages” and “30 AI requests” as separate items on the free tier, and “30 AI messages” and “30 AI requests” as separate daily items on Starter. It does not explain how the two relate. Our check confirmed the numbers match the page exactly as of November 1, 2026 — no discrepancies. But the relationship between messages and requests is the gap. A reader budgeting usage can’t tell from the page whether sending one message consumes one request, or whether background features consume requests independently. That’s not a hidden number; it’s a missing definition. We flag it because it changes how far the free tier actually stretches.

Everything else — the US$8 and US$16 monthly prices, the note limits, the PDF caps, the storage tiers — matches the official page. Nothing differed from the official page this time; every number below matches it, checked 2026-11-01.

☀️ AMO, the budget-minded cat

AMO, the budget-minded cat

Free is free, and 30 AI messages a month costs nothing to try. But “free enough” depends on what you’re doing. If you’re a student who opens Saner.ai twice a week to summarize a paper, 30 messages might last. If you’re a founder drafting, revising, and querying notes daily, you’ll burn through 30 messages in a few days and spend the rest of the month staring at a capped assistant.

The Starter plan at US$8 per month is the real decision point. It converts monthly caps to daily ones — 30 messages and 30 requests every day — and raises notes from 100 to 1,000. That’s the plan that makes Saner.ai usable as a daily tool rather than a demo. Eight dollars a month is not nothing, but it’s below most AI note competitors’ entry tiers.

The Standard plan at US$16 per month is harder to justify on budget alone. You’re paying double for unlimited messages, unlimited notes, 100 GB storage, and 100 daily requests. If you never hit Starter’s 1,000-note ceiling or its 30-message daily cap, you’re paying for headroom you don’t use. The budget-minded move: start free, upgrade to Starter the first month you hit the 30-message wall, and only consider Standard if you’re consistently maxing out Starter’s daily limits.

One warning: the free tier’s 1 MB PDF cap and 100 MB storage are tight enough that they function as upsell triggers, not real limits. You’ll feel them within weeks.

🌙 PIMI, the performance-minded cat

PIMI, the performance-minded cat

Performance here isn’t about speed — the data doesn’t include benchmarks. It’s about whether the tool can do the job without you fighting the quota system. On that measure, the free tier fails for serious work. Thirty AI messages per month is roughly one per day. No researcher or founder operates at one AI query per day.

Starter at US$8 per month is where the tool becomes functional: 30 messages per day, 30 requests per day, 1,000 notes, 5 MB PDFs, 5 GB storage, and limited Reasoning mode. That last item matters. Reasoning mode is what separates a note assistant from a chatbot — it lets the tool work through multi-step questions instead of giving you a surface answer. Starter’s version is “limited,” which the data doesn’t define further.

Standard at US$16 per month is the performance tier. Unlimited messages and notes mean you stop counting. 100 daily AI requests give you room for background features. Extended Reasoning mode is the version you want if you’re using Saner.ai for actual analysis, not just retrieval. 100 GB storage and 10 MB PDFs handle real document loads.

The catch: the data doesn’t tell us how “limited” and “extended” Reasoning differ in practice, or how fast the tool responds under load. Those are the questions a performance buyer needs answered, and the pricing page doesn’t answer them. What the page does confirm: if you want unlimited messages, you pay US$16. There’s no middle option that removes the message cap without also removing the note cap.

Verdict: who should use it, who should skip it

Saner.ai fits researchers and founders who want an AI assistant embedded in a note system, not bolted on. The free tier is a genuine trial — 30 messages, 100 notes, 100 MB storage — but it’s a trial, not a workflow. Anyone using the tool more than once a day will hit the message cap within the first week.

Starter at US$8 per month is the plan most individuals should start with. It converts monthly caps to daily ones and raises notes to 1,000, which is enough for a real research practice. Standard at US$16 per month is for people who’ve outgrown counting — unlimited messages, unlimited notes, extended Reasoning mode, 100 daily requests. If you’re not hitting Starter’s ceilings, Standard is wasted money.

Skip Saner.ai if you need large PDFs on the free tier (1 MB is restrictive), if you want annual pricing (none appears in the data), or if you need clarity on how AI messages and AI requests interact before you commit. That ambiguity is the one unresolved issue in an otherwise clear pricing structure.
