[Review] Does Supabase Pro Pricing Cover One Project or Your Whole Organization?
- Free tier: Yes
- Cheapest paid plan: US$25/mo and up
- Free quota: Up to 2 active projects, 50,000 monthly active users (MAU), 500 MB …

Supabase sells itself as an open-source alternative to Firebase. It bundles a Postgres database (a widely used open-source database), vector search and the rest of a backend into one service. This review has one angle: how the bill is built. The headline Pro price looks simple, but it hangs on a word the page uses carefully: “organization.”
I didn’t use the product. This is our read of the verified pricing data, and every number below comes from it. Prices vary by country, and we checked from Taiwan.
The free plan: generous, with a trap door
The free tier allows up to 2 active projects. Each project gets:
- 50,000 monthly active users (MAU, meaning people who log in during a month)
- 500 MB of database space
- 1 GB of file storage
- 5 GB of direct egress and 5 GB of cached egress (egress is data leaving your service to your users)
- 500,000 Edge Functions invocations (Edge Functions are small pieces of server code that run on demand)
That is a lot of room for a prototype. The catch is in the last line of the free-plan description: a project with no activity for 1 week is paused automatically.
For a side project that people use every day, this is fine. For a demo you show to a client once a month, it is a problem. The site goes quiet and you have to wake it up. The data doesn’t say how a paused project is restarted, so check that before you rely on the free plan for anything a customer will see.

Pro: the price belongs to the organization, not the project
Pro is US$25 per month, billed monthly. The data says it is charged per organization. An organization is the account-level container that holds your projects.
That one fee includes:
- your first project
- a US$10 monthly compute credit (compute is the server running your database, and the credit can offset one Micro instance, the smallest size)
- 100K MAU
- 8 GB of database space
- 100 GB of storage
- 250 GB of egress
- no automatic pausing
Extra projects cost US$10 per month each, “from.” That “from” matters. It means the figure is a starting price, not a promise. The data gives no price for larger instances, so we can’t tell you what a bigger second project costs. We also won’t add the numbers together for you. The data doesn’t state a total for two projects, and a guess would be worse than a gap.
Anything beyond the included quotas is pay-as-you-go: you pay for what you use over the limit. The data doesn’t mention a spending cap. If you run Pro, find out whether one exists before traffic spikes.
Team: a big jump for a short list of features
Team is US$599 per month per organization, “from.” It includes everything in Pro, plus:
- SOC2 and ISO 27001 compliance support (security audit standards some customers demand)
- single sign-on for the dashboard (staff log in with their company identity)
- 14 days of daily backups
- 28 days of log retention
- a priority support SLA (a written promise on response times)
The data lists no plan between US$25 and US$599. If you need SSO or the audit paperwork, the next step is steep.

🔍 AMPM exclusive check
Here is what we can say, and what we can’t.
The price and quota figures matched the official pricing page on every automated check from 2026-10-23 to 2026-11-04, with nothing changed. The first record is from 2026-10-22. Our latest check was 2026-11-05.
The weak spot is how thin the checking is. This tool entered our database automatically as a challenger candidate. Its data was read from the official site in one pass and has not been cross-checked by a person against a second and third source. Our own record says the free quotas and commercial terms should be confirmed on the vendor page at the time you sign up.
We also found gaps the page doesn’t fill. The data does not list what Pro lacks compared with Team, such as backup length. It does not name a spending cap. It does not price instances above the starter size. These are questions to ask, not facts we can supply.
☀️ AMO, the budget-minded cat

Is free enough? For learning, yes. Two active projects, 50,000 MAU and 500 MB of database is real room. I’d build a first app here without hesitation.
The risk is the 1-week pause. If your project goes quiet, it stops. That’s fine for a hobby. It’s bad for anything that has to answer a visitor at any hour.
Is paying worth it? The US$25 does more than it first appears. It removes the pause, lifts MAU to 100K, the database to 8 GB, storage to 100 GB and egress to 250 GB. It also hands back a US$10 compute credit against your first server. So the real cost of the first project is lower than the headline number suggests, though the data doesn’t say by how much.
The cost I’d watch is the second project. At US$10 per month, from, it looks cheap. But I can’t tell you what it becomes once it grows, because the data stops at “from.” And past your quotas you pay as you go.
My rule: stay free until the pause bites or you need a second live project. Then move to Pro. Don’t go near Team at US$599 unless an auditor or a big client demands it.
🌙 PIMI, the performance-minded cat
Does it do the job? On paper, the scope is broad. You get Postgres, vector search (finding items by meaning, useful for AI features) and a full backend in one place. That means fewer vendors to wire together.
Does it run fast? I can’t answer that. The data holds no speed tests, no latency numbers and no uptime figures. Anyone claiming a verdict on speed from this data is guessing.
What the data does say about performance is mostly about capacity and availability:
- Free projects pause after 1 week idle. Pro projects never auto-pause. That is the biggest practical difference for anything customer-facing.
- Pro’s 250 GB of egress sits against a free allowance of 5 GB direct plus 5 GB cached. If your app sends images or video to users, the free limit will run out first.
- The included credit covers one Micro instance, the smallest size. For heavy workloads, you’d likely want more server power. The data doesn’t price that, so test your load before committing.
On Team, the 14-day daily backups and 28-day logs matter if something breaks and you need to trace it. But those are safety features, not speed features.
Bottom line: the capacity numbers look solid for a small production app. Whether it feels fast is something you’ll have to find out yourself.
Verdict: who should use it, who should skip it
Three things that annoy or poor value:
- The free pause. One week idle and the project stops. It’s a real limit for anything people expect to be online.
- “From” pricing. Pro, extra projects and Team are all “from” prices, with pay-as-you-go beyond the quotas. The data gives no cap and no total for a multi-project setup.
- The Team cliff. Nothing is listed between US$25 and US$599. SSO and compliance support only come at the top.
What it does well:
- A free tier with real room: 2 projects, 50,000 MAU, 500,000 Edge Functions calls.
- A Pro plan that never auto-pauses and bundles 100K MAU, 8 GB, 100 GB and 250 GB.
- One service covering database, vector search and backend.
Use it if you’re building a prototype or a small app, want one Postgres-based backend, and can live with the pause or pay for Pro.
Skip it if you need a firm monthly total for several large projects, need SSO on a small budget, or need proven speed numbers before you commit. The data gives you none of those.

AMPM is a Taiwan-based AI-tool pricing watchdog. Our motto: ask before you subscribe. Two cats argue every tool from two sides:
- ☀️ AMO — the budget-minded cat. Always asks: is the free tier enough, and is paying actually worth it?
- 🌙 PIMI — the performance-minded cat. Cares about whether it works well, fast, and gets your job done.
When they are done arguing, you know whether to pay. Every number is checked by us, with the verification date at the end.
