Synthesia Now Says 'New Lower Prices': Starter at US$14/mo Yearly — What Actually Changed (Sept 2026)

Article last updated:2026-09-06

Synthesia’s pricing page currently carries a banner: “NEW LOWER PRICES — Plans now starting from US$14/month - Save 34%.” We read the page with a rendering browser on 2026-09-06 and compared every line against our July verification record.

The plan table on the day

StarterUS$19US$1414,500 credits/year = 580 min AI dubbing or 120 min video, 300 assets, 1 editor + 3 guests, 125+ avatars, download videos, remove the Synthesia logo
CreatorUS$89US$5944,000 credits/year = 1,760 min dubbing or 360 min video, 900 assets, 5 personal avatars, API access, 1 editor + 5 guests, 180+ avatars
EnterpriseCustomCustomUnlimited video minutes, 240+ avatars, unlimited personal avatars, SAML/SSO, SCORM export, dedicated CSM

Watch the units: paid tiers are now quoted as annual credit totals (14,500 / 44,000) while the free tier is still quoted monthly. Starter’s 120 minutes of video is per year, not per month.

Is the free tier usable?

Yes, for judging whether AI-avatar video works for your audience — 10 minutes and 9 avatars is enough for that. No, for delivering anything: downloads appear first under Starter’s “what you get in Basic +” list, along with removing the Synthesia logo. Personal avatars also start at Starter (3 of them).

Who each tier suits

  • Starter (US$14/mo yearly) — one person making internal training or product explainers; 120 minutes a year is plenty, and you get downloads and de-branding.
  • Creator (US$59/mo yearly) — teams needing API access, multiple personal avatars, interactive video or branded video pages. The 4x jump buys features, not minutes.
  • Hold off if your real need is dubbing existing footage: dubbing minutes and video minutes are two separate quotas, so do the arithmetic first.

What Amo and Pimi think

AMO Amo Finding faults
Let me say the unflattering part first. The free plan only gives you 10 minutes a month, 9 stock avatars, just 1 personalized avatar, and the output still carries a watermark — let's be honest, that's just a trial. Starter US$29, Creator US$89 — serious video production isn't cheap. What really gets me is the personalized avatar count: we checked three separate times and it said 1, then 3, then suddenly 5. The official comparison table is so complex it even has A/B content, and it's still flagged as pending manual review to this day. How am I supposed to trust something that can't even keep its own fields consistent?
PIMI Pimi Advantages
Don't be mad yet, hear me out on its strengths — it's the most widely used digital-human platform for corporate training, and typing text to generate a video of a real person speaking is something nobody can deny. Starter drops to US$18/year billed annually, saving 38%; Creator is US$64/year billed annually, saving 28% — the discount is genuinely noticeable. Enterprise goes even further: unlimited minutes, unlimited personalized avatars, 80+ language translation, plus SAML/SSO, the kind of thing big companies need, all included. And from 2026/7/15 to 8/15 there's also a limited-time Dubbing 2.0 promotion — 15 free dubbing minutes per person per day. I think this deal is a good one.
So, do you need to pay or not?

For corporate training or multilingual teaching videos, it's a mature choice — I'd recommend going straight to annual billing to save over 30%. If you're an individual just messing around occasionally, the free 10 minutes is enough — the watermark and quota aren't suited to serious production. Before ordering, you should confirm the avatar count on the official site yourself — that field is something we still haven't fully pinned down.
