How to Cancel AI Subscriptions: Cursor (cursor.com/dashboard/billing → Manage Subscription), ChatGPT & 10 More

Last verified: 2026-08-09. Every cancellation step and refund rule below is sourced from the provider’s official help documentation and cross-checked against two to three independent sources. Subscription terms change; always confirm against the provider’s current announcement and what your own account screen shows.
Why this page exists
Subscribing takes one click. Cancelling is usually three levels deep in account settings — plus one trap that catches a lot of people: if you subscribed inside a mobile app, the website has no cancel button at all. You have to cancel through the Apple App Store or Google Play. People who don’t know this “cancel” on the website and keep getting charged.
This page covers the 12 most-asked-about AI services. For each one: where the cancel path is, how long access lasts afterwards, whether a refund is possible, and the specific thing that trips people up.
Summary table
| Tool | Cancel path | Access until | Refund | Sourcing | Official doc |

| Claude | Web: name (bottom left) → Settings → Billing → Cancel | End of current billing period | Separate refund request page; not automatic | 3 sources | Claude Help |
| Gemini (Google AI Pro) | gemini.google.com → Settings & help → Manage subscription → Google One → Cancel membership | End of billing cycle | Non-refundable in most regions (Israel: prorated) | 3 sources | Gemini help / Google One policy |
| Perplexity | Profile icon → Account → Manage Plan → Cancel Subscription | End of billing cycle | EU/UK/Turkey 14 days; South Korea/Brazil 7 days; elsewhere 24h monthly / 72h annual | 2 sources (official page blocked — see disclosure) | Perplexity Help |
| Midjourney | Sign in at midjourney.com → Manage Subscription → Cancel Plan | End of billing cycle, remaining Fast time included | Official: eligible only if you’ve used under 20 GPU minutes over the lifetime of the account | 3 sources (one third-party discrepancy — see below) | Midjourney Docs |
| Adobe Firefly | Adobe account → Plans and payment → Manage plan → Cancel your plan | Usually to end of contracted term | Full refund within 14 days of purchase; after that no refund, and annual-paid-monthly plans incur a 50% early termination fee on remaining months | 2 sources (official page unreachable — see disclosure) | Adobe cancel guide |
| Kling AI | Profile → subscription status → Manage → Stripe billing portal → Cancel subscription | Until membership validity period ends, then free tier | Official terms: once a paid service is activated, the fee is non-refundable | Refund = official; cancel steps = third-party (see disclosure) | Kling paid terms |
| Suno | suno.com/account → Cancel Subscription at top → confirm | End of billing period, then free Basic tier | No refund for unused time; accidental/unused/malfunction cases handled individually | 3 sources | Suno cancel / Suno refunds |

| Notion AI | Settings → Billing → Change plan (downgrade / cancel) | End of billing cycle, then Free plan | Full (non-prorated) refund if you downgrade within 3 days (monthly) or 30 days (annual) | 3 sources (AI add-on “Remove from plan” path is single-source — see below) | Notion plan changes |
| Cursor | cursor.com/dashboard/billing → Manage Subscription (Stripe) → Cancel Subscription | End of billing period, then free Hobby plan | Only if charged within 14 days and the subscription was unused that period; usage and on-demand charges never refundable | 3 sources | Cursor cancel / refunds |
| GitHub Copilot | Profile → Settings → Billing & licensing → GitHub Copilot → Manage subscription → Cancel subscription | End of billing cycle, then auto-downgrade to Copilot Free | Official docs show a “Cancel and refund subscription” option; third-party guides report no prorated refund is typical | 3 sources (conflicting — see below) | GitHub Docs |
The big trap: in-app purchases can’t be cancelled on the website
If you subscribed through Apple App Store or Google Play, you must cancel there. These providers state it explicitly in their own documentation: ChatGPT (iOS billing managed by Apple, Android by Google Play), Claude (iOS/Android Billing → Manage subscription routes to Apple/Google), Gemini / Google One (Apple purchases must be handled by Apple, including refunds), Perplexity (separate iOS and Android billing articles), Suno (“mobile subscriptions paid via the App Store or Google Play Store should be canceled directly through those third party services”), ElevenLabs (dedicated iOS/Android cancellation and refund article), and Cursor (refund page states iOS purchases go through Apple). Multiple third-party guides say the same about Kling AI.
A related trap: deleting the app does not cancel the subscription. Billing continues. OpenAI also publishes a dedicated article on being charged twice if you subscribe on iOS, Android and the web separately — buying in two places means paying in two places.
Numbers worth knowing
Nothing cuts off instantly. All 12 services keep your paid access until the end of the current billing period. You don’t gain anything by waiting until the last day to cancel — you only risk forgetting.
The 24-hour threshold. OpenAI and Anthropic both state you should cancel at least 24 hours before your next billing date to avoid the next charge. Cancel inside that window and you’ll likely be billed one more cycle.
Refund windows vary enormously. Perplexity: 24 hours to 14 days depending on region. Adobe: 14 days. ElevenLabs: 14 days and no credits used. Cursor: 14 days and no usage. Notion: 3 days monthly / 30 days annual. Midjourney doesn’t use a time window at all — it uses a lifetime usage threshold of 20 GPU minutes. None of them is “refundable any time.”
Adobe charges you to leave. On an annual-paid-monthly plan, cancelling mid-term incurs an early termination fee of 50% of the remaining monthly payments — the only service in this table where cancelling costs money. Plans billed through Apple or Google follow those platforms’ policies instead.
Disclosure and what we would not state as fact
Perplexity — official help page could not be read directly. On 2026-08-09 we requested the official perplexity.ai/help-center articles from two separate network locations. Both returned raw status 403 (Cloudflare block, not 404), and a proxy retry also returned 403. The Perplexity rows above are drawn from the search-engine index of that official page, cross-checked against SubTracker, CancelPath and Orbit Money and found consistent. This information was not retrieved directly from the official site by us. We are relaying it for reference only; it does not represent this site’s position, and the provider’s own announcement governs.
Adobe Firefly — official page unreachable. helpx.adobe.com failed to connect from both of our network locations (no response, not a 404). The cancel steps, 14-day refund rule and 50% early termination fee come from the search-engine index of Adobe’s official help and subscription-terms pages, cross-checked against LegalClarity, Resubs and Pine AI. This information was not taken directly from the official website by us; we relay it for reference only, it does not represent this site’s position, and the provider’s own announcement governs.
Kling AI — cancellation steps are not from the official site. Kling’s official paid-service terms (which we did read directly) state that once a paid service is activated the fee is non-refundable, and describe the auto-renewal service. However the “Rules for Unsubscribing” and the Automatic Renewal Service Rules appendix are loaded dynamically and could not be read, and Kling publishes no step-by-step cancellation guide. The cancellation steps above come from Pollo AI, AI Tool Curator and LegalClarity; Kling AI’s official X account has also publicly stated cancellation is done via the plan management page or Stripe. This data is not from the official website. We relay it for reference only; it does not represent this site’s position, and the provider’s own announcement governs.
Midjourney — two different refund thresholds in circulation. Midjourney’s official Cancellations & Refunds section states eligibility requires having used under 20 GPU minutes over the lifetime of the account. Several third-party guides instead say “less than 1% of monthly GPU minutes.” These conflict; we follow the official wording and note the discrepancy rather than picking one silently.
GitHub Copilot — conflicting refund information. GitHub’s official documentation shows a “Cancel and refund subscription” option in the cancellation flow, while most third-party guides state no prorated refund is given and you must contact support. We are not choosing between them — go by the option actually shown in your account.
Notion AI — add-on removal path is single-source. The path “Settings → Billing → Additional features → Notion AI → Remove from plan” appeared in only one source and we could not confirm it on Notion’s live help pages. Single source, not cross-verified. What is confirmed: the official plan change/cancel path is Settings → Billing → Change plan, and access continues to the end of the billing cycle after a downgrade.
Three things to do before you cancel
- Work out where you bought it. Open the billing page on the website. No cancel button? You almost certainly bought it inside the App Store or Google Play — cancel there.
- Keep evidence. Screenshot the confirmation screen, keep the confirmation email, note the date. If you get charged anyway, this is what settles the dispute.
- Do the date maths. To stop the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the billing date. Don’t leave it to the last day.
