What this table compares

Most “AI student discount” roundups copy a percentage and stop there. They rarely say when the figure was checked, and almost never say whether it came from the vendor or from someone else’s blog. This table does three things: list the offers we could actually verify, label the source of every figure, and flag the ones where we only found second-hand information.

Method: check the vendor’s student or pricing page first, confirm against a vendor FAQ, help centre or terms page, then look for one independent third party that is not simply reprinting the same article. A figure is stated plainly only when all three line up; entries backed by fewer sources are labelled as such. Every failed connection was retried at least twice with a 2-3 second gap, reading the raw status code — a 403 (bot block) is not a 404. Perplexity’s student page returns 403 to crawlers but does exist.

Gaps worth stating separately

A discount is not a long-term price. Adobe and Lovable both use a first-period rate that steps up. Adobe runs US$19.99 in year one and US$39.99 in year two, so two years costs about US$719.76 — reading “71% off” as a standing rate overstates the saving considerably. Lovable behaves the same way when the 12 months end and US$12.50 returns to US$25. The number worth comparing is two-year total cost, not the first month.

A free plan is not full AI access. Notion is the easiest one to misread. The vendor help centre does say students get Plus free, but the vendor’s own AI FAQ states that full Notion AI belongs to the Business and Enterprise plans, and that Free and Plus users receive only a “limited number of complimentary AI responses”. “Notion is free for students” holds; “Notion AI is free for students” does not.

Paused is not cancelled. GitHub’s free Copilot student plan stopped accepting new sign-ups on 2026-04-20. GitHub’s own community threads and reporting from The New Stack both point to the same cause: agentic workflows raising compute demand. Accounts activated before the pause keep their access; anyone applying now cannot get it, and no reopening date has been published.

Expired offers should be labelled as expired. Google’s Gemini student page now states plainly that the previous student offer ended on 9 December 2025 and is no longer available. Guides promising twelve free months of Google AI Pro for students are generally recycled 2025 material.

Notes for students in Taiwan

Only verifiable points appear here; where nothing could be confirmed, that is stated.

The email domain is the main variable. Otter.ai’s pricing page says “email addresses ending in .edu”. Taiwanese institutions use .edu.tw, which does not literally end in .edu, and the vendor page does not address whether .edu.tw counts. Third-party sources say that where a domain does not end in .edu, students can contact Otter support with documentation from the institution (third-party claim, not vendor page text).

Notion checks a database, not a suffix. Notion’s stated condition is that the institution appears in the World Higher Education Database, a different test from Otter’s. The vendor does not list Taiwan specifically; in practice the answer is whether “Get free Education plan” completes inside the account.

Adobe’s wording is broader. The eligibility condition quoted by third parties is a school-issued email — “.edu, .k12, or other email domains sponsored by educational institutions” — which leaves room for domains such as .edu.tw (third-party claim).

University students should skip Canva. Canva’s eligibility page explicitly lists colleges, universities, higher education institutions and college and university students as not eligible, and states the programme is worldwide and not restricted by country. Taiwanese university students are excluded because of the education level, not the location. Taiwanese K-12 teachers do fall inside the eligible group.

Lovable states worldwide availability. The vendor student page covers accredited institutions globally with no country exclusions listed, while noting that not every university can be verified in its system.

Microsoft’s eligible territories are unconfirmed. The vendor education page describes a limited-time offer requiring a college email but publishes no country list. Whether Taiwan is included could not be confirmed; treat the checkout page’s acceptance of your school email as the answer.

Not included, and why

The following were checked against their official sites and produced no evidence of a student offer, or the page does not exist. Nothing here is inferred: ChatGPT / OpenAI (no vendor student page; third parties date the last promotion to 2025-05-31), Claude (the vendor education page covers university-wide agreements via sales only, with no individual student plan), Gemini and NotebookLM (vendor page states the student offer ended 2025-12-09), Cursor (the vendor student page mentions campus event promotions only, no standing discount), Windsurf (domain now redirects to Devin, no student page), Replit (no student plan on the pricing page), DeepL (/pro/students returns 404), Gamma (/education returns 404), HeyGen (/education returns 404), Synthesia (/education returns 404), VEED (teachers only, and the page states applications are closed), Midjourney and Suno (no vendor student offer found).

Contradictory, therefore not stated: Runway. The vendor help centre returned 403 on repeated attempts and third-party sources disagree — one says there is no individual student programme, another describes 25% off individual plans plus up to 100,000 credits through a student ambassador scheme. We are not picking a winner; confirm directly with the vendor.

How to use this table

Decide first whether you want a one-off saving or four years of lower cost. Of the nine entries above, only Notion and Canva are free for the duration of eligibility; the rest all have a point at which list price resumes. Then check whether your school email passes verification, which is where students in Taiwan most often stall — and note that the tests differ: Otter reads the domain suffix, Notion queries the WHED database, Adobe asks whether the address was school-issued, Canva looks at education level. Final amounts are whatever the vendor’s checkout shows; this table is for comparison only.
